“You William Blake?”
“Yes, I am. Do you know my poetry?” — Johnny Depp (William Blake) in Dead Man.
I forgot how good this movie is. Jim Jarmusch has a new movie coming out The Limits of Control which I can’t wait to see. He said it had a similar sensibility to Dead Man. I remember being stunned by the cinematography of this and Johnny Depp, and the strange world they created. It’s a little similar to Deadwood in deconstructing the West, but with poetry and flesh rather than violence, politics and flesh. And humor too, can’t forget that.
Soundtrack by Neil Young.
Here’s a clip set to Bon Iver’s music which is a good fit. I’d forgotten about the falling star and the fallen fawn.
“With the wild wolves around you, in the morning I’ll call you.”
